SMU has officially entered the recruitment of Class of 2031 standout Christian Bell, signaling continued momentum for a program on the rise. Bell, a skilled and composed young guard, has gained national attention for his positional size, athleticism, scoring instincts, basketball IQ, and advanced feel for the game.. despite being just a 6th grader Bell has already competed at the highest levels of youth basketball—suiting up for Houston Hoops’ 9th Grade EYBL team and making meaningful contributions against older competition.
This move follows SMU’s early offers to top Class of 2030 prospects DJ Parker and Heir Jackson, two elite guards with explosive upside. It’s part of a forward-thinking strategy that’s paying off. SMU currently holds the #10-ranked recruiting class in the nation.
That class includes nationally ranked stars BJ David-Ray, Jermaine O’Neal Jr., and Jaden Toombs, among others. An impressive core that reflects SMU’s appeal to top-tier talent.
What sets SMU apart from other programs isn’t just who they recruit, but how they develop. While many schools chase headlines and NIL buzz, SMU is focused on long-term player growth, emphasizing skill development, leadership, and readiness for the next level, on and off the court.
With Christian Bell now on their radar, the Mustangs are making it clear..they’re building something special, and the future runs through Dallas.
