Inside the Journey: 2030 DJ Parker Talks Mindset, Work & Development

We sat down with DJ Parker, a Class of 2030, 6’7” Guard from Duncanville High School / Drive Nation EYBL. A prospect who’s been on a steady rise and is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing young guards in the country.

From size and early flashes… to skill, confidence, and production, DJ’s transformation hasn’t been accidental. It’s been earned.

Interviewer:

At what point did you realize you wanted to take basketball seriously?

DJ Parker:

“When I was about 7. That’s when I truly believed I could make it big with basketball.”

Even at a young age, DJ says he felt something different … not just interest, but purpose.

Interviewer:

What made you feel like you could really do it?

DJ Parker:

“Just always being a hard worker… going to training with my dad, watching how the high-school guys worked, and knowing I could do it too.”

That confidence didn’t come from hype, it came from habits. Long days in the gym. Being pushed. Studying players older and stronger… then matching their energy.

Interviewer:

I remember seeing you in 6th grade — you had the size and flashes, but were still raw. You’ve made a huge jump over the last year. Talk about the development.

DJ Parker:

“A lot went into it — mostly my ball-handling. Being able to dribble and shoot. It’s allowed me to become a full playmaker and a 3-level scorer.”

Growth in his frame was expected.

Growth in his skill is what’s changing the conversation.

Interviewer:

Dream school?

DJ Parker:

“Not really. I’d just say any D1 college that’d be great.”

Not chasing one logo, chasing the highest level. The mindset of someone focused on the journey, not the hype.

Interviewer:

What is DJ like off the court?

DJ Parker:

“Off the court I love helping, and I love cooking… a lot. One of my favorite hobbies is cooking.”

You don’t hear that very often at his age. A 6’7 guard who finds joy in learning, creating, and giving.

Interviewer:

Players you like to watch and model after?

DJ Parker:

“AJ Dybantsa for sure — I like him a lot. I like Cooper Flagg, KD a lot, and Giannis.”

That list tells you a lot. Long skilled, versatile, two-way wings who impact the game everywhere.
