Journey to Cal Poly: AOG TX High Academic Camp Alum Canon Wyatt Commits D1

Canon Wyatt’s path to Division I basketball has been defined by discipline, development, and high-level academic standards.

The Highland Park (TX) guard and AOG TX High Academic alum has officially committed to Cal Poly, where he will compete at the Division I level while pursuing a degree in Business.

At 6’0”, Wyatt has established himself as an elite shooter, capable of stretching defenses with deep range and a quick, repeatable release. Competing with the Triumph AAU program, he consistently proved to be an efficient scorer who thrives in structured offenses, understands spacing, and makes winning plays without needing the ball in his hands.

Wyatt’s growth as both a player and a person was shaped significantly during his time at Highland Park under Coach Piehler, where accountability, preparation, and basketball IQ were central to the program’s culture. Playing in a demanding system, Wyatt learned the value of efficiency, shot selection, and defensive responsibility. He was asked to earn minutes through consistency and trust—developing into a guard who understands pace, executes within the offense, and competes on both ends of the floor.

That foundation is evident in Wyatt’s poise and decision-making. Whether spacing the floor, relocating off the ball, or knocking down timely shots, he plays with confidence rooted in preparation—an attribute that translates directly to the college level.

Wyatt also credits AOG TX High Academic for helping prepare him for the next stage of his basketball journey.

“It’s a great camp where college coaches teach the game — how to play the right way,” Wyatt said.

“David G. does a great job of finding underground players and giving them real exposure.” (More at https://www.instagram.com/p/DTvXDxMlcZJ/?igsh=MXFiMmt4MHhpaWcydQ==)

Wyatt’s journey through AOG TX High Academic reflects the platform’s mission of preparing student-athletes for success beyond basketball. His commitment to Cal Poly represents the balance of elite skill development and academic focus, positioning him for long-term success on the court, in the classroom, and in the workforce.

As he moves on to the Division I stage, Canon Wyatt stands as a model for basketball prospects — high character, skilled, coachable, and built for winning environments.
